'Tis the season for longer walks, backyard adventures, and muddy paws on clean floors.
But as the garden wakes up, it pays to keep your canine in mind.
Watch the garden. Spring plants can be surprisingly dangerous. Tulips, azaleas, daffodils, and cyclamens are all toxic to dogs. If your pup ingests any of these, seek veterinary attention immediately. And keep pest poisons and fertilisers locked away in the shed — when you need to use them, keep your dog indoors.
Watch the heat Spring can surprise you with a warm snap. Never leave your dog in a parked car, and always carry water on walks.
A little prep goes a long way — for your dog's safety and your garden's good looks.
